Answer 1:

An initial assessment will be undertaken during the first session in order to identify your child's strengths and weaknesses. This will allow an individualised programme of study to be devised.

Answer 2:

Having taught children from primary, through secondary and further education of all abilities, we are qualified to teach students aged from 5 through to GCSE standard.

Answer 3:

We are able to teach English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Answer 4:

You will be informed on your child's performance regularly and they will be re-assessed regularly too. With the individualised programme of study targets will be set and explained to yourself and your child. This is essential in order to help them to improve.

Answer 5:

Children are different and learn at different rates, so there isn't a set length of time. However you can be guaranteed that if your child has made the progress desired, you will be informed; so that you have value for money.

Answer 6:

We ask for a week's notice, as sessions are planned in advance, so that any resources that require producing are available.

Answer 7:

Sessions are of one hour's duration, starting on the hour.

Answer 8:

Homework is set, though this will reflect the child's age and requirements. For those sitting 11+ or external exams extra homework may be set. This will also help them to achieve independent study skills. As parents, we know that some schools do not set homework relying on students to revise themselves. However this does not give them a focus and generally means students don't do any home study.

Answer 9:

We have a range of resources that are provided at our cost, such as text books, exercise books, worksheets and exam papers; as well as educational games and access to educational software. Should your child require a personal study book that they complete work in, we charge cost price which we feel is fair.

Answer 10:

No! Your child's details and performance are kept totally private. Should you wish your child's teacher to email me to inform us on areas that require improvement, the decision is yours to make. Any software used to assess your child will be annonymised of your child's details. Your child's information will not be shared with anyone without your prior consent.

Answer 11:

We have an success rate of 100% (2020) into selective schools on the basis that children have been attending for over 12 months.

Answer 12:

We charge £25 per hour per student.

Answer 13:

As long as you notify us at least 24 hours in advance in case of illness. A week's notice of holidays allows us to be flexible for other students, should the occasion arise.

Answer 14:

We continue tuition through most of the school holidays, though obviously we take our own family holiday at some point.
